Museum host at Gildeskål church site

As a museum host, you meet the public at Gildeskål Church Site as a host in the café, give tours, contribute to daily operations and ensure that visitors have a good experience. The tasks vary. Some days there are larger groups who come for tours and meals, other days there are tours with individual groups. We also look after our surroundings, and ensure that the premises and the outdoor area look nice.

This is the job for you who likes to tell stories and engage! All our guests are equally valuable, and it is important that the employees find it exciting to be a host.

Work tasks

  • Hosted in the Prestegårdskafé and shop.

  • Easy preparation and serving of food and cakes.

  • Mediation in Gildeskål medieval church for individuals and groups.

  • Dissemination in the churches at Gildeskål, at the cemetery and around the cultural landscape.

  • Cleaning and simple maintenance of public areas.

  • For musical applicants, there will be opportunities to use their talent at work.

  • Some work may also take place outside.

  • Our opening hours are from 11:00-17:00 every day. 

  • The position also involves weekend work according to an agreed rotation.

Qualification requirements

  • Interested in history.

  • Committed to good hosting.

  • Adaptable and independent.

  • Outgoing and positive.

  • Comfortable guiding in both Norwegian and English.

  • Basic knowledge of German is desirable.

Here you will have the opportunity to truly experience the northern Norwegian summer at its best, with both beach and mountains in close proximity! Perfect for those who are interested in nature and want to spend the summer in rural surroundings.

  • The season runs from June 22nd to August 9th, but there may also be opportunities for work before and after the main season. As a museum host, you will welcome the public and guide them through the exciting history of Gildeskål Church Site! 

  • Some time to familiarize yourself with the material must be expected prior to the season, in addition to a host course.
