Guided tour of the war cemeteries in Botn
The guide will take you through the stories of life on the Blood Road and in the camp in Botn, about Commander Fritz Kiefer, and about those who died and those who escaped. You will also hear how the war cemeteries came to be, and about the relationship between the Yugoslav and German war cemeteries.

The tour starts in Stornaustet with a focus on the boats. We end in the living rooms of the main house, with stories about the traders, Anna Elisabeth, innovation and wealth. After the tour, fish soup with fresh bread is served.

Outdoor tour with a focus on the fishermen. The guided tour has three stops and starts with an introduction inspired by Johan Bojer's novel "The Last Viking". After the tour, one of three food menus is served.

Learn about the church's history, architecture and community life, told through what we can see in the church today.

Guided tour of the church site
We monitor human activity on Gildeskål from the year 200, with burial mounds from the Iron Age, traces of stone extraction on the rocky cliffs, distinctive place names and the cemetery. The tour provides a greater understanding of why the church site was built here.

Anna Elisabeth of Kjerringøy
You will be taken back to the 19th century, to the time of the clipfish and the crane. The tour takes place in the main house, where Mrs. Anna Elisabeth lived her life. All objects in the house belonged to Anna Elisabeth and her family. You will get an insight into the differences between the servants and the family themselves, and how hard life could be in a northern Norwegian trading post .

Kjerringøy trading post — an innovative and forward-thinking company
This tour also takes place in the main building, but with a different focus. Here, the financial acumen of the operators of the trading place — Christian Sverdrup, Jens Nicolai Ellingsen, Anna Elisabeth Ellingsen Zahl and Erasmus BK Zahl — takes center stage. You'll hear how they thought innovatively and long-term, and how they ran the place like the business it was.

Guided tour of the City Museum in Bodø

You will be guided through the entire exhibition. We usually show one exhibition related to the city's history and one art exhibition.

The guide will take you on a walk through the history of Saltdalen. You will hear about the operation and bankruptcy of Skippergården, see the boats in the yard, visit Myrlandsstua and the schoolhouse from Dverset.

The tour covers local war history, explains the strategic importance and operation of the cannons, and discusses how the setting up of Batterie Dietl affected the local population, Soviet prisoners of war, other workers, and the soldiers of the occupying forces.

We also offer tailor-made tours of the fortress area or the prisoner of war camp upon request.

You can book three different tours at Fauske Folk Museum . One tour tells about the everyday life of the northern Norwegian fishing and farming family. Another tells the stories of the famous healer Johannes Brateng. The third is a tour of the seasonal temporary exhibition. We can also adapt the presentation as desired based on these themes.

Ørnes trading post and the modernization of Ørnes
Ørnes trading post has a history that stretches back to 1794, when the jekt skipper Elling Pedersen was allowed to run a shop and inn on the site. This made Ørnes to a hub along the coast of Northern Norway, at a time when cities hardly existed and trading posts functioned as centers for the villages. Ørnes trading post became a gathering point for the local community, and remained so for generations. The exhibition also examines the modernization process in Meløy from 1900 to 1950.

Operation Musket Thunder
At Gammelbakeriet you can learn the story of the sabotage operation during World War II, also known as "Operation Muskedunder". 12 men risked their lives to sabotage the Nazi aluminum production in Glomfjord, which is a 20-minute drive outside of Ørnes .

From the heyday of the skipper nobility to the last residents, Hanna and Arnolda Krogh Hansen. The tour includes the second floor and stairs, and is best suited for adults.

On Steigen Folk Museum You will gain insight into the working and living conditions of the district doctor while seeing the living rooms and the doctor's office that were in operation from 1877 to 1962. You will visit a fully furnished Nordland house and hear about how fishermen and farmers lived around 1900. The tour covers all the houses on the farm.

A tour of Sjønstå Farm takes you through the farm's history, from its origins in 1665, through life as fishing farmers, the encounter with industry, the exodus in the 1900s, and up to the present day.

Join a tour of the exhibition "Once upon a time..." at Beiarn Folk Museum The exhibition is about the history of the rectory and various forms of living cultural heritage that are now in danger of being lost.

Join a tour of the Sulitjelma Mining Museum and hear about the people who built an entire community around the copper mines. The collections cover all aspects of the mining community — minerals, labor movement, transportation history, and sports.

Take the original mining locomotive 1.6 kilometers into Sulitjelmafjellet and experience a glimpse of Sulitjelmafjellet’s 100-year mining history. The visit begins with a brief introduction to the mines in the area and the foundation stone. You will then be transported into the mountain, where experienced guides share stories about mining and life as a miner in the 1900s.

In the childhood home you are greeted by a narrator who invites you to join him for a story telling session around the table over a cup of coffee. The story is about Hamsun's journey from his birthplace in Gudbrandsdalen, to his upbringing in Hamarøy and teenage life in Nordland, until he took the step into the world at the age of nineteen to become a writer.

Meløy The village museum takes you back to an important chapter in local history. You will learn about the development of the school, the lives of the students and the everyday lives of the fishermen. Walk through historic classrooms in an authentic school building from 1923, and gain an insight into what schooling and boarding life was like for children in the village. The children stayed at the school for 14 days before going home to their families.

Our guide takes you through the nooks and crannies of the building, into Hamsun's literature and upbringing. Hamarøy , and shows how architect Steven Holl created what he calls "a hamsun figure in the architectural sense". Duration 30 min to 1 hour. Number of participants 15 to 25.
