Tour of the Dietl Battery

The tour covers local war history, explains the strategic importance and operation of the cannons, and discusses how the setting up of Batterie Dietl affected the local population, Soviet prisoners of war, other workers, and the soldiers of the occupying forces.

We also offer tailor-made tours of the fortress area or the prisoner of war camp upon request.

Practical information

  • The tour takes 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  • From 10 to 25 people per group

  • Available in Norwegian and English (English must be notified in advance)

  • Photography is permitted without the use of flash

  • Available all year round

Prices for guided tours on request

  • Weekdays 8:00 AM–4:00 PM: NOK 70 per person, minimum 10 paying guests.

  • Groups of less than 10 people still pay a minimum of NOK 700.

  • Children have free entry.

  • In the evenings and on weekends: basic price NOK 2,500 plus NOK 70 per person.

Facilities

Simple dining. Toilet. Free parking and HC parking in front of the entrance. Cars can be parked in the parking lot above the museum bunker.

The bunker is partially wheelchair accessible, but has not been adapted for disabilities. It has some high door frames and stairs down to the basement.
