Mine tour on request

Take the original mining locomotive 1.6 kilometers into Sulitjelmafjellet and experience a glimpse of Sulitjelmafjellet’s 100-year mining history. The visit begins with a brief introduction to the mines in the area and the foundation stone. You will then be transported into the mountain, where experienced guides share stories about mining and life as a miner in the 1900s.

Practical information

  • We offer mine tours by reservation for groups all year round, as long as the mine is not covered in ice.

  • Bookings must be made at least two weeks in advance.

  • Available in Norwegian and English (English must be notified in advance)

  • The trip takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

  • Maximum 20 people per tour.

  • The temperature in the mine is 6 to 8 degrees — dress warmly.

  • Upon arrival, you will be given a helmet, and you can borrow rain boots and overalls.

  • Photography is permitted without the use of flash.

  • Minimum age 6 years.

  • All visitors must be able to walk and evacuate without assistance in the event of an emergency.

Basic price NOK 3,000 plus NOK 90 per adult and NOK 40 per child (6 to 16 years).

Facilities

The visitor mine has not undergone adaptations for disabilities. All visitors must be able to walk and evacuate without assistance in an emergency. There are toilets and a cloakroom at the entrance to the mine. Free parking.
