Join us on a historical walk back to the Iron Age on Saturday, June 27. The walk starts at 11:15 from the bus stop in Øysund at the exit from the main road to Kunna. Look for a man in Iron Age costume. The walk takes you to important sites from a time when chieftains ruled along the Helgeland coast. Here you will see burial sites, boathouse ruins, farmsteads and traces of one of Meløy's old chieftain's seats, an area rich in archaeological remains from the late Iron Age.
The guide tells about how people lived, traded and built power over 1500 years ago. The tour goes at a leisurely pace through the cultural landscape, so that everyone can follow along, both locals, tourists and families. You will gain a unique insight into Nordland's prehistory and an understanding of how Iron Age society shaped the coast we know today.
Bring good shoes, coffee and curiosity – this will be both a great trip and an educational experience! Perfect for anyone who enjoys history, culture and nature. We travel over distances where participants need to take care of their own transportation.
The hike is led by Helge Seim from Nordlandsmuseet
