Rock carving hike on Åmøya

  • Ørnes trading post 13 Havneveien Ørnes , Nordland, 8150 Norway (map)

Join us on a historical journey back to the Stone Age on 25. July at 11:15. The hike starts from the parking lot at the field and goes to the impressive rock carving fields on the rocks above. Here you will experience over 11,000 years old rock art carved into the smooth, rocky rocks, motifs of moose, reindeer, bears and whales created by the first people who settled along the Helgeland coast.

The guide vividly tells about how Stone Age people lived, hunted and expressed themselves through art, and gives you insight into one of Northern Norway's oldest cultural monuments. The tour takes place at a leisurely pace over rocky cliffs and in cultural landscapes, so that everyone can follow along, both families, locals and tourists.

Bring good shoes, appropriate clothing and curiosity. This will be an educational and magical experience where nature and prehistory meet! Perfect for anyone who enjoys history, culture and beautiful coastal nature.
