A renovated, expanded and universally designed museum opened on June 19, 2024. In collaboration with the Árran Lulesamisk Senter, the City Museum has appeared in a new guise as Bådåddjo/Buvvda Musea throughout the cultural year 2024.

A separate concept for the Capital of Culture year

In 2024, the City Museum was transformed into Bådåddjo/Buvvda Musea, as a separate concept for the Capital of Culture year, and was intended to make the city's population better acquainted with Sami art and culture.

Throughout the year 2024, the public has been invited to take part in exhibitions and activities that have spotlighted Sami art and culture in the form of historical exhibitions, newer crafts in collaboration with the Árran Lulesamisk Senter and other Sami institutions and associations have made this possible.

Closing party for Bådåddjo/Buvvda Museums

The City Museum is converting the entire first floor into a concert venue, and will end Bådåddjo/Buvvda Musea with a big party together with the fantastic Kalle Urheim with a full band!

Kalle Urheim invites the audience to a Lule Sami universe with unique indigenous music in an electronic soundscape, with references to folk rock, jazz, EDM and pop. He stands for a strong textual presentation, in an endangered indigenous language, on themes such as the power of nature, friendship, mental health, turning evil into good and not least good energy and joy.

He wants to show the greatness in his own people, but also see the greatness in others. Something he is passionate about is giving people space to be themselves, and to respond to life with gratitude, love and joy.

– From now on, life should be fun and give you lots of energy, quite simply, says Kalle Urheim.

Kalle Urheim composes and performs modern songs based on Lule Sami singing and joik traditions. It will also be the first time he performs his latest single "Goasskemoabbá - Eagle Sister" in Bodø.

The band consists of:

  • Per Arne Karlsen, drums/percussion

  • Michael T. Johansen, keyboards

  • Magnus Mathisen, guitar

  • Christo Stangnes, bass

  • Choir/co-vocal: Thale Krogtoft
    + SPECIAL GUEST

The concert is supported by the Sami Parliament.
