Join us for an inspiring and educational lecture about the birds that live close to us – and why they mean more to us than we might think.

The small birds around houses and cabins give us daily moments of joy, peace and closeness to nature. They bring life to the garden, song to our morning coffee and remind us of the changing seasons. Getting to know the birds around us not only increases our experience of nature, but also increases our understanding of how to care for them.

This evening we will be visited by Martin Eggen, one of Norway's most well-known and committed bird communicators. He is a birdwatcher, conservationist, author and a widely used speaker, known for his ability to convey professional knowledge in a warm, accessible and engaging way. Martin has worked for many years to increase knowledge about birds and nature, and inspires people of all ages to see the value of the nature around us.

The lecture is based on the new book Our Birds, where you will get to know over 40 Norwegian bird species that you can encounter in bird boxes, gardens and at feeding places. Martin talks about each species' characteristics, lifestyle and needs – and gives specific advice on the right food, placement of feeding places and how you can adapt bird boxes so that more species thrive where you live.

You will also receive practical tips on how small, simple measures can make a big difference for bird life - and at the same time give you more great nature experiences right outside your door.

The beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations by Øivind Egeland are displayed on a large screen and give the lecture an extra visual dimension.
