Introductory course in South Sami language and culture with Meerke Krihke Leine Bientie

The purpose of the course is to highlight and disseminate Sami language and culture. The course provides participants with an introduction to Southern Sami and an understanding of language revitalization and Sami culture. Participants are introduced to simple words and expressions. Instead of focusing on in-depth language training, the course aims to increase participants' language revitalization and some insight into the status of the language by awakening motivation for language learning. No prior knowledge of Sami language is required to participate.


The course is part of Sami language week 2026 and is organized in the conference hall at Bymuseet i Bodø 20 and 21 October, every day at 16.00–18.00.

Each course day consists of:
● 45 minute lesson
● 30 minute break
● 45 minute lesson
During the break, participants will be served food.

Price: NOK 150 for adults / Free for children
