Exhibition opening and light refreshments
In the art exhibition Arctic Highways, artists reflect on Sami culture and social life. The journey in the exhibition extends from the past and into the future.
On Bodø The City Museum is showing parts of the project Arctic Highways . The exhibition includes works in textile art, photography, video, sculpture and duodji. The artists highlight issues from Sápmi and the Arctic, ranging from land loss and threats to climate and the environment to the fight to preserve language and culture.
Through contemporary art, the artists share experiences related to belonging to an indigenous people, and the exhibition gives the audience an insight into what it means to be borderless – both geographically and spiritually.
Artists from Sápmi represented in the exhibition are Matti Aikio, Tomas Colbengtson, Gunvor Guttorm, Marja Helander, Dan Jåma, Laila Susanna Kuhmunen, Britta Marakatt-Labba and Olof Marsja.
The exhibition can be visited during the museum's opening hours. Read more about the City Museum and opening hours here.
