Textile artist and bird keeper in Vega, Vibeke Emilie Steinsholm talks about the process and the idea behind the exhibition "AV HENNES HENDER" which is now on display at The Jekt Trade Museum .

As coastal people, we come from a culture that has used wool and other natural fibers for generations - in work clothes, bedding and fishing gear. Wool's properties for warmth and protection are unparalleled. The ancient craft techniques of spinning, carding, knitting, rope and weaving have shaped textiles for use on boats and in fishing, keeping people dry and warm from the inside out. In addition, wool is biodegradable and leaves no trace in nature.

In this lecture, you will hear about the possibilities inherent in the ancient textile heritage, and a dialogue about what opportunities may be found in replacing our enormous overuse of plastic with other materials - such as wool.
