Lecture: Two happy kings and a prince

  • Steigen Public Library Myklebostad 1 8283 Leinesfjord Norway (map)

The reportage magazine Aktuell gave us many unique moments during the almost 30 years it was allowed to be published. It was the reportage that would become Aktuell's mainstay – the popular reportage about how we lived in our country during a time of reconstruction, growth and increased production, the hope of prosperity, and the dream of a Volkswagen and a holiday in Mallorca.

Aktuell followed the fishermen out to the fishing grounds. The miners in the mine shafts. The industrial workers into the factories. The loggers in our forests. The construction workers, those who built power plants in the mountains and bridges over our fjords. Aktuell addressed the imbalance in income development, the unequal treatment of women and gender discrimination in working life.

Author and journalist Bjørn Tore Pedersen comes to tell us about how the magazine Aktuell told our history in a completely unique way, and how it came to shape his understanding of society.
