Nordlandsmuseet is part of Bodø Biennale 2026
Nordlandsmuseet is a proud partner this year and is contributing with a program day at the City Museum in Bodø under Bodø Biennale 2026. In addition, the biennale's outdoor dance performance Anima Choir and outdoor performance ENE will be shown at The Jekt Trade Museum .
Collaboration between art and cultural institutions in Bodø is important, and the cooperation between Bodø Biennale and Nordlandsmuseet is a good example. The City Museum in Bodø has become an arena for international performance art this year. We are particularly pleased with the collaboration with Professor Emerita Annette Arlander in connection with the seminar program, says Marija Griniuk at Nordlandsmuseet .
Close to performance art — September 5th at the City Museum
Friday, September 5th, 11:00–15:00, the City Museum invites you to Bodø and Bodø Biennale audience to a program day about performance as an art form and as a method for communicating cultural heritage . The day is an extension of Performance Studies in Sápmi, the festival that was held at the City Museum on June 28th and 29th this year.
The program consists of several performance works, a reflection circle and a conversation between artists and the audience.
At 11.00 Marija Griniuk performs Performance Art Techno Youth in the conference hall, together with young performers from Bodø The work explores the relationship between history, tradition and technology.
At 11:45, Annette Arlander will perform Birch to Birch outdoors, a performance that connects birches in Helsinki and Bodø .
At 1:00 PM, artists and researchers will gather for a reflection circle in the conference room about Bodø as an arena for Performance Studies in Sápmi. The circle is led by Annette Arlander, Marit Bringedal Anti, Greta Balčiūnaitė, Therese Thuv and Marija Griniuk. The day then continues with a conversation between artists and the audience about the future of Bodø as an arena for performance art.
The day ends with Marit Bringedal Anti and Greta Balčiūnaitė's collaborative outdoor performance at 2:15 PM, where they dress as mythological beings from their respective cultures and explore how cultural differences shape notions of the mythical.
Anima Choir at The Jekt Trade Museum
By The Jekt Trade Museum The site-sensitive dance performance Anima Choir is being shown. The performance is created by dance artist Yohei Hamada, with sculptures by visual artist Daniela Bergschneider, and developed in dialogue with Arctic landscapes.
Kinetic sculptures are animated by the performers, creating a sensual chorus of movement, sound and visual materials. The landscape is not a backdrop, but an active part of the performance's rhythm and dramaturgy. Wind, terrain, distance and voices become part of the choreography and influence how the work unfolds from place to place.

ONE by The Jekt Trade Museum
ONE moves through Bodø Through sound, movement and scenography, ENE challenges what a body can be, how it can take place and who is seen. A body that changes, that asks questions, that exists between the known and the unknown.
ENE is an interdisciplinary project and the work was developed in collaboration between costume designer Solveig Bygdnes, visual artist and dancer Mari Bø and sound artist Frode Larsen. Gaute Barlindhaug has worked on the programming and Sally Turner has been involved in sewing and constructing the work.
