The Hamsun Days 2026 is ready for the public, art and literature!
In a week it will break out again Hamarøy with the cultural festival The Hamsun Days . This year's festival, which has the subtitle "The Ring is Over", has a packed program that will both challenge and embrace the audience in the very best way!
New director at the Hamsun Center
Nordlandsmuseet has hired Monica Celius as the new director of the Hamsun Center in Hamarøy – a center dedicated to the life and writings of Knut Hamsun. Since its opening in 2009, the Hamsun Center has established itself as a significant cultural institution, both nationally and internationally.
The summer program at the Hamsun Center is ready.
The summer season at the Hamsun Center extends from June 14th to August 17th and the program is now ready.
Ednama Sjatto travels to Slovakia
The old silent film Growth of the Soil from 1921 has been given new Sami music. The film is based on Knut Hamsun's Nobel Prize-winning novel, Growth of the Soil (1917).
Close to Marianne Lauritsen
At the Hamsun Center we meet Marianne. A creative 28-year-old woman from Trøndelag who chose life in the north. During this year's The Hamsun Days Marianne is on stage with her first solo performance "Ragnhild the Great".
