Nordlandsmuseet nominated for the 2026 Opplystprisen
Nordlandsmuseet has been nominated for this year's main award at the Enlightenment Conference in Bodø The award will be presented at the gala dinner at Ramsalt Hotel on Thursday, September 24th.
The Opplystprisen goes to a business that has taken major steps in its own development, and which through its growth has contributed to positive ripple effects for the entire Salten region. The jury considers, among other things, economics and growth potential, innovation and sustainability, reputation, regional ripple effects, as well as management and ownership.
Call for papers
The Nordland Collection Network invites speakers to a professional seminar on the storage and reorganization of museum collections on March 9-10, 2027 in Bodø . Deadline for abstract submission September 30, 2026.
New aspirant strengthens the collection work by Nordlandsmuseet
Nordlandsmuseet has received a grant from the Arts Council of Norway's trainee scheme to hire a full-time trainee. From 1 January 2027, Irena Hishchynska will take on the role to strengthen the collection work.
How we accept donations for the collection
Every year receives Nordlandsmuseet inquiries from people who want to donate objects, photographs or other objects to our collections. Such gifts are valuable, they can fill gaps in the story we tell, or supplement what we already have.

We celebrate International Museum Day with half price
May 18 is International Museum Day, and this year the day is about how museums can build bridges between people across culture, society and geography. Nordlandsmuseet marks the day with a 50% discount on entrance tickets at Kjerringøy trading post , City Museum in Bodø and The Jekt Trade Museum from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd May.
15th-century hospitality inspired an international project
In June, academics, artists, social actors, local residents and researchers will gather at Røst and in Bodø to explore the concept of "hospitality." A project inspired by a story from the 15th century.

I am a living creature.
"I am a living creature" is a cultural program organized by Meløy Municipality. Through the use of art and culture, we look at humanity's relationship with Svartisen, our reaction to its rapid change, and explore the grief that could arise if it were to disappear.
