Nordlandsmuseet has activities for children at most of our facilities throughout the summer. Here's what awaits you and your family this summer.

Dietl Battery — Engine Start
Would you like to experience when we start the engine down in the basement of the gun bunker? The engine from 1942 powered the generator that supplied the bunker with electricity during the war. It still works. Come see, hear and smell! Suitable for the whole family of all ages.

Beiarn Folk Museum — Creative Thursday for children
Every Thursday from 9 to 23. July is there a creative workshop for children at Beiarn Folk Museum 12:00–1:30 p.m. Suitable for children from 4 years old. Over the three Thursdays we will make butterflies and caterpillars, weave our own small weaving from rags and make sailboats from sticks and fabric scraps.

Fauske Folk Museum
Children's museum experience
What was it like to be a child in a fishing and farming family? We visit Knurvikhuset at Fauske Folk Museum and tastes like flatbread and dried fish. Suitable for children from 5 to 12 years old. Tickets must be purchased in advance as there are limited seats.
Café and summer workshop for children
Every Wednesday in July There is a café in Leivsethuset with marble cake and Nordlandslefse, and a summer workshop for children from 11:00. Suitable for children from 4 years old.

Crofter's Farm Kjelvik — Family Day
Sunday, August 9th, 12:00–15:00 is Family Day at Crofter's Farm Kjelvik with old-fashioned toys, baking of pancakes in the kitchen, wooden beads and face painting. Coffee, soft drinks, muffins and cake are sold on site.

The Jekt Trade Museum – Family Thursdays
Every Thursday from June 25th to August 13th it is Family Thursday at The Jekt Trade Museum in Bodø The program varies from week to week — the children can go fishing in Lofoten with Jakob, learn to make klappa cakes or join the house chef. the jekt skipper on a children's tour.

Kjerringoy trading post – Help the Silent Girl
Grovtausa Jentine is terribly busy and is super happy to get help. The children get to hear about life on the farm and try their hand at various tasks. There is also time for play and crazy ideas when it turns out that the family is away. Suitable for children from 6 years old.

Løp farm — Family day with rhubarb soup
June 28th from 12:00–13:00 is Family Day at Løp farm. Join us and pick rhubarb from the garden, cut it into pieces and cook it into a delicious soup according to an old recipe — which you will of course taste at the end. Suitable for children from 6 years old.

Saltdal Folk Museum — Creative Thursday for children
Every Thursday from 9 to 23. July is there a creative workshop for children in Myrlandsstua on Saltdal Folk Museum 12:00–1:30 p.m. Suitable for children from 4 years old. Steigen Folk Museum — Hey Frida!
Frida is very happy to have visitors and likes to chat away over a cup of coffee. There is actually a lot to do in the house and garden, and maybe you or your children can help a little? Frida bakes, cooks and washes clothes, and every day something new happens. An activity for the whole family of all ages, in Norwegian and English.

Sulitjelma Visitor Mine — Into the Mountain
Take the original mining locomotive 1.6 km into Sulitjelmafjellet and experience a glimpse of Sulitjelmafjellet's 100-year mining history. Experienced guides tell stories about life as a miner in the 1900s. Minimum age 6 years. Tickets must be booked in advance.

Best of all — children under 18 get in free at 19 of our facilities all summer long. Most of the events in this article have separate ticket prices, but the museum visit itself is always free for children.
