Nordlandsmuseet has a significant collection of rye. The largest is the collection from Kjerringøy trading post , where 14 whole and half ryes are preserved. A rye is a woven bedspread made of wool. One side is smooth, with warp and weft in wool, and resembles a blanket. The other side has dense floss, tied in during the weaving. The floss is made of thick wool yarn, often with interspersed cuts of rags from woven wool fabrics, sometimes cotton. The garment has many names: rye, napparye, lofotrye and boattrye.

In the collection after Gustav Moldjord at Beiarn Folk Museum stands an instrument that at first glance may seem unremarkable. A narrow, oblong wooden box, just over a meter long, with a fingerboard with transverse bands that mark the notes. The single gut string that was supposed to be strung across the fingerboard is worn out.

Outside the City Museum in Prinsens gate stands a 3.55-meter-high stone block. It is a monolithic stone from the Early Iron Age, erected between 1,500 and 2,500 years ago.

In the Nordlandsmuseet collection we find M/B Teisten, a motorized eight-ring and a unique example of the transition from traditional northern Norwegian boatbuilding to modern motorized fishing. She is physical evidence of one of the most dramatic changes in Norwegian fishing history.

Large, pointed, and deadly, hatpins were effectively open stabbing weapons in public. The newspapers were full of stories of people being stabbed in the face, and in the worst case, in the eye.

A display case from the 1880s lay ready to be burned on a scrap heap in Bodø A random passerby stopped, looked closer, and saved what is now one of the main objects in the Made in Bodø exhibition.

In the Nordlandsmuseet collection there is a rune bar from Bjørsvik in Nordfold in Steigen The object entered the museum's collection in 1976.
