About the Nordland Museum
The Nordlandsmuseet Foundation collects, preserves, researches and communicates Salten's 10,000-year history. We work to preserve cultural monuments, physical environments, objects, written sources, images and oral tradition, and conduct versatile communication for everyone.
We manage 20 museum facilities spread over 140 buildings, around 50,000 objects, approximately 280,000 photos and 400 metres of shelving with archives. The museums are located in all nine municipalities of Salten: Bodø , Fauske , Saltdal , Sørfold , Steigen , Hamarøy , Beiarn , Gildeskål and Meløy .
Children have free admission to all our museums.

Story of the month
Updated monthly, between the 20th and the end of the month
"I am angry with myself for the collection, but it cannot be undone," Knut Hamsun wrote about his only collection of poems, The Wild Choir from 1904. It is a harsh judgment of his own poetic work, but one he has largely come to share in since. Hamsun's attempts to work outside the novel genre have consistently been met with a certain coolness.
